“I would prefer to stay in India”

Anil Kapoor is known to be an evergreen actor who has been in the film industry for over four decades. Not just in India, but Bollywood’s ‘Lakhan’ has also made his mark internationally with shows like 24 and Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol. However, the actor now wishes to stay at home instead of working on more international projects. In a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Anil Kapoor spoke about the same and shared that international movies/shows take a lot of time and hence the choice becomes difficult.

“I’ve done a lot of shows in the UK and got offers from all the big platforms. Sometimes shows take a lot of your time. Then you have to make your choice – at this point in my life, Should I take the plunge and be away from my family, to say yes to this show?’ said the 65-year-old actor.

Anil Kapoor also revealed that many big international shows have been presented to him but now he wants to prioritize his family more than his career. He added that he would prefer to stay and work in India. “Because of my priority – my family more than my career – I said that I would prefer to stay in India and do everything I can here. Unless it’s something really big, I take the consent of my family. If they say yes, I do. I didn’t ask earlier, but now I have to ask them if I can stay away from them for so many months,” he added.

Speaking about consulting his family for the roles he plays, the actor who was recently seen in JugJugg Jeeyo said, “It’s always about time and staying away from them, never about the role. Then there are films like Thar, in which I worked with my son Harsh (Varrdhan Kapoor; actor), or a film that we all produce, and which needs me to be there as one of the key members. .

However, the actor also made it clear that he wouldn’t hesitate to take on an international role if he found the filmmaker right. “Why not? If something exciting happens to me, [I will do it]. Also, for me, the filmmaker is very important, that the role and the time they need me,” he said.

On the work side, Anil Kapoor last shared screen space with Neetu Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Kiara Advani in JugJugg Jeeyo.
